Annual International Symposium on Healthcare Communication

The International Consortium for Communication in Health Care (IC4CH) holds an annual International Symposium in order to bring healthcare professionals, clinicians, linguists, communication scholars, educators and researchers together for an inspiring event to share their ideas, experience, and latest research findings on healthcare communication.

The 2018 Symposium was held at the ANU with the theme Translating cutting edge communication research into best practice and training for safe and compassionate healthcare. The speakers included a range of international leaders in healthcare communication.

The 2018 Symposium was also held to celebrate the launch of the Institute for Communication in Health Care Professor Rae Frances, Dean of the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences, and Professor Jane Dahlstrom, Dean of the ANU College of Health and Medicine.

In 2019, the Symposium was hosted by the School of Humanities and Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, with the theme, Human Dimension in Medicine and Healthcare. In addition to a range of speakers, the event featured two stakeholders’ panels, providing a forum for dialogue among clinicians, patients, caregivers, educators and students to interact and share their views and experience with one another.

The next Symposium will be held in early 2021. Please visit our web page regularly for further details on the event.
