Australian National Dictionary

 

The Australian National Dictionary is a comprehensive, historically-based record of Australian English. It is a dictionary of Australianisms - those words and meanings which have originated in Australia, which have greater currency here than elsewhere, or which have a special significance in Australian history. It records the historical development of Australian words and phrases from their earliest use to the present day.

A new edition will be published online and be freely available to the public in the coming year.

The second edition was edited by Bruce Moore and published by Oxford University Press in 2016.

The first edition was edited by W.S. (Bill) Ramson and published by Oxford University Press in 1988.
