Partnering with health consumers in research: Best practice (Online)

Join us for a practical and informative workshop on best practices for involving health consumers in research! This workshop targeted at researchers, clinicians and medical students as well as health consumers.

Using hands on examples from health communication and health services research, we will discover the compelling reasons for partnering with health consumers in research projects. Learn about the options and benefits of different levels of consumer involvement in specific projects. Gather an appreciation of diverse consumer roles and how to avoid tokenistic engagement in research projects. Gain insight into how to find and engage with health consumers and the importance of planning early for partnering with consumers. Become informed about practical aspect of consumer involvement in research including budgeting, reimbursement, ethics, and publishing.

This workshop is designed for researchers, clinicians, and medical students seeking to improve their skills and knowledge in partnering with health consumer in research projects and health consumers are also most welcome!

This workshop series is offered as part of Dr Mary Dahm’s Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Early Career Researcher Award (DECRA).
