Fragment of Roman Wall-Painting

Purchased. Max. ht 10cm; max. width 7.5cm.

A fragment of a border to a panel with a stylised flower on a vertical and two other verticals to the right. The background is a smooth polished white, unpainted. The decoration is a deep red which has a lustrous finish where well preserved.

This type of flower seems to be more stylised and later than anything found at Pompeii and it should therefore date after AD 79.
