Gold Necklace

Purchased by the Friends of the Classics Museum.

Length 31.5cm; diam. ca 0.5cm.

Stolen from the ANU collection in December 2004.

The necklace comprises a length of plaited gold wire, its ends sheathed with cylinders with horizontal ribs to which rings for the fastening are attached. The gold wire is notably fine.

Probably Roman of the first-second century AD.
