Sicilian Plain Mug
From the Woite Collection; probably from the area of Gela, Sicily. Ht (lip) 7.9cm; diam. 8.5cm.
Intact. Cream-buff clay. Out-turned lip and carinated body; rounded base; strap handle sitting close to the body. Unpainted.
Compare Monumenti Antichi 46, 1963, 328 fig.41, 2 (Agrigento) which has a foot and a somewhat different mouth but is similar in general character. Perhaps later fourth century BC.
