Description:

Maltese Pottery

Introduction by J.R. Green

To mark the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935, the Government of Malta presented to the Australian Parliament a collection of ancient pottery found in Malta. It has now been lent to the Museum and is listed below.

There is a discussion of these vases by Claudia Sagona, “Punic Pottery from Malta held in two Australian Collections”, Mediterranean Archaeology 9-10, 1996-97, 29-52. See more generally the same author’s The Archaeology of Punic Malta (Leuven 2000).

The inventory number given is that of the Parliament of Australia.
