Welcome to Linguistics

Welcome to Linguistics is an introductory session run during orientation week 2021. Come join us on our Welcome To sessions and find out what majors and minors suit you.

To celebrate the beginning of a new semester, there will be 2 informal welcome events where you can meet linguistics staff and current students.

A face-to-face welcome event will take place on Friday, 19 February, 11am-12pm; outside Baldessin Precinct Building (#110) level 2 (facing the Art bldg, next to Baldessin Annex). Due to Covid-related restrictions, it's a BYO coffee event, so we encourage you to grab a hot drink of your choice (at the French cafe for example) before coming to Baldessin. To make it a Covid-safe event, please follow the government and university guidelines and refrain from attending if you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms. There will be a book give-away table for people to take books for free.  Contact Jane Simpson if you want to give books to the give-away table.

For those who can't attend the face-to-face event, an online welcome will take place on Friday, 19 February, 2-3pm: virtual location, Zoom Password: 972823.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
