Write Time (or 'Getting ready to write time')

Please join us at Write Time (or 'Getting ready to write time').

  • Write Time is designed for all language and linguistics thesis-writing students from CASS and CAP – PhD, Masters and Honours students.
  • Write Time is student-run, with students taking it in turns each week to be the time-keeper. The time-keeper monitors the time so that everyone writes for 30 mins and then they have a break of 10 mins before writing again for 30 mins. There is no talking or discussion during the writing time. There is no writing during the break time. Biscuits are provided.
  • Before we start writing or working, we have a short focus time where students raise issues such as writing, reading, structuring, formulating ideas.
  • The breakdown is:
    • 9.30 - 9.45 focus time
    • 9.45 - 10.15 silent writing time (silent time)
    • 10.15 - 10.25 break (chatting time)
    • 10.25 - 10.55 silent writing time (silent time)
    • 10.55 - 11.05 break (chatting time)
    • 11.05 - 11.25 silent writing time (silent time)

So, bring your lap top and get ready to work with others for 2 hours.

When: Every fortnight on Tuesday mornings 9.30 – 11.30.
