'Sign on Screen' Festival coming soon!

Sign on Screen is an Australian Research Council-funded project about the representation of sign languages on cinema, television and digital screens. Taking place at the National Film and Sound Archive from 6pm Friday May 22 - 5pm Sunday May 24 2026. The full program and tickets are now available for the Sign on Screen Film Festival. 

Special guests include deaf and hard-of-hearing filmmakers and artists from all over Australia, including SLLL HDRs Sofya Gollan and Sam Martin, plus the first session of a new film review series, which the creators are describing as a "Deaf David and Margaret" show! 

All events are Auslan <> English interpreted, all screenings are captioned with hearing loop capability, all films are Deaf-led, and the entire weekend is free to all!

Registrations are essential.
