Star PhD Candidate to Represent SLLL at ANU3MT Final

SLLL PhD Candidate Vihanga Perera

Tuesday 3 September 2019

This Wednesday 4th of September, PhD candidate Vihanga Perera, will be representing ANU School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics at the ANU3MT finals.

Vihanga will be talking about the importance of giving voice to the stories of victims who suffered during an armed struggle in Sri Lanka in 1987. "These victims' stories have been sidelined and unacknowledged, and in my research I look for ways to make them count in how we understand 'history'," Vihanga says.

Vihanga describes 3MT as "quite an event, given ANU's commitment to the 3MT over the years."

He adds, "Also, it is a good opportunity for me to share the message of my research with a broader audience, and to generate some awareness about the victims whose stories I am working with. I strongly identify with their victimization, and this is a prime opportunity to spread the word."

Register for the event and come along to the ANU3MT Final this Wednesday 4th of September to cheer on Vihanga and SLLL!
