Winning essays from the 2024 Swiss Prize

Swiss Prize 2024 participants at the awards ceremony at the Swiss Embassy in Canberra.

Monday 4 November 2024

The Swiss Prize is a trilingual essay competition held annually since 1998 by the Swiss Embassy in Australia in collaboration with the ANU. This year's topic challenged students to explore the complexities of Swiss neutrality. The winning essays offered fresh perspectives on this topic from an uniquely Australian point of view. Winners were awarded at a special evening ceremony attended by CASS Dean Professor Bronwyn Parry at the Swiss Embassy in Canberra on October 24th.

Congratulations to the three winning students who were awarded a $150 prize and certificate:

Kevin Thow, for an essay in French entitled, "La neutralité suisse dans un monde en mutation : implications pour l'Australie".
Owen Crofts, for an essay in German entitled, "Neutralität in Aktion: Die Schweiz als globale Klimaführerin"
Mehvish Mehboob, for an essayin Italian entitled, "La neutralità come fattore unificante: Il contributo della neutralità politica alla coesione interna della Svizzera"

You can now read the three winning essays, attached below.
