Drama
Drama subjects offer you the chance to learn about theatre history and to explore plays as texts written for performance. Course activities include lectures, tutorials and practical workshops.
You do not need acting experience to enrol in Drama at ANU but you will gain strong foundational knowledge that will serve you well in creative arts career paths such as acting, directing, and drama teaching.
Through studying drama you will acquire skills in drama and theatre research, and learn to analyse and understand play texts in relation to their historical and cultural contexts. You will have the opportunity to develop detailed knowledge and practical experience of plays within the Western Theatrical Tradition with a focus on Shakespeare to the present day.
You will also have the opportunity to develop skills in public speaking and creative collaboration, while improving your skills in critical inquiry, creative interpretation, argument and written expression.
Drama can be studied as part of a major in English or as an independent elective.
